How to choose

All 3 routes run through Ötztal and are operated by CANKICK, all half-day sessions departing from Haiming. The Stuiben Waterfall route at 85 € is rated "Everybody welcome", making it the clearest entry point if you've never clipped into a via ferrata harness before. The Lehner Waterfall, also 85 €, steps up to "Occasionally sporty", adding more sustained climbing sections along the canyon walls. The Burgsteiner Wand at 100 € earns its 15 € premium with a "Sporty" physical level, meaning exposed ridgelines, steeper iron rungs and a higher demand on grip strength and head for heights. Pick Stuiben to test yourself, Lehner to push further, Burgsteiner to commit fully.

Frequently asked questions

Which route is the most intense?
The Burgsteiner Wand is rated "Sporty", the highest physical level across the 3 routes. It demands real grip strength and comfort with exposure, and it costs 100 € reflecting that step up in challenge.
Do I need prior climbing experience?
Not for the Stuiben Waterfall route, which is open to everybody. The Lehner and Burgsteiner routes require progressively more fitness and confidence on steep terrain, so some basic experience helps before tackling them.
How long does each session last?
All 3 tours run for half a day. That typically means 3 to 4 hours on the route including the approach, enough time to feel the full exposure without a full-day commitment.
What is the scariest moment on a via ferrata?
Most climbers name the first exposed traverse or a vertical ladder section where the rock face drops away below your feet. On the Burgsteiner Wand, that feeling is sustained longest given its "Sporty" rating.
In which languages are the tours guided?
All 3 routes are guided in both English and German by *CANKICK* instructors.

Equipment

Harness, helmet and via ferrata lanyard are standard kit for all 3 routes and are typically provided by CANKICK. Wear closed-toe shoes with a firm sole, and bring a light waterproof layer since the waterfall routes at Stuiben and Lehner put you in the spray zone. For the "Sporty" Burgsteiner Wand, gloves are worth adding to protect your hands on extended iron rung sections.

Getting there

All tours meet at CANKICK GmbH, Alte Bundesstraße 26, 6425 Haiming, Austria, easily reachable by car from Innsbruck in roughly 45 minutes via the A12 motorway.
