Both tours are run by Finnmark Adventure out of Alta and cover the same Kviby area by ATV, with a physical level rated "Occasionally sporty" for each. The 3 € price gap between the two (177 € vs 180 €) is negligible. The real decision is what you're chasing. Pick the Northern Lights excursion (5h, 177 €) if you want maximum time on the trail and the chance to hunt the aurora across the Finnmark plateau. Pick the WW2 Discovery excursion (4h, 180 €) if you want a historically grounded ride through landscapes that still carry traces of the wartime occupation. Both are guided in Norwegian and English.

Both rides run "Occasionally sporty" terrain for up to 5 hours in the Alta region, where temperatures can drop hard even outside peak winter. Layer up with thermal base layers, a windproof outer shell and waterproof gloves. Helmets and safety gear are provided by Finnmark Adventure, but your own neck gaiter and insulated boots will make the difference on a long trail.
Getting there
The Northern Lights tour meets at the Scandic Hotel or the Alta Cruise port. The WW2 Discovery tour departs from your accommodations or the harbour in Alta or Kviby. Alta Airport (ALF) is the main entry point into the region.
